Entreplink EB at Han Wok Chinese Cuisine at Blue Wave Mall

The Saturday EB of Entreplink Philippines at Han Wok Chinese Cuisine at Blue Wave was another wonderful experience for those lucky enough to be present during the meeting and the networking that followed. The place was really crawling with activities as Entreplinkers gathered on one table (actually several tables strung together) for the Cashflow game, while another group of entreplinkers chatted and drank coffee on another set of tables as the game went underway.

Han Wok's Wellness Weekend was also ongoing during that time as people tried the excellent massage modalities from Rommel Martinez of Greenbay Thera and received Live Blood Analysis and wellness tips from Ian Ocampo and Roscel Dongaban's group from Beauty and Wellness Options. On top of that, the normal lunchtime crowd soon flocked to Han Wok and availed of the sumptuous meals the place had to offer.

The following is a rundown of events that took place during this glorious session:

a) Cashflow 101 Game :

- Our good friend Jason Estimado brought his Cashflow 101 Board game and patiently facilitated the game that was participated by: Peter Mariano; Anna Villanueva; Ian Ocampo; Rustum Maranan; Cristina Zapata-Aquino; Jay Menes; and Glenn Josef Jumilla.

- Due to time constraints, the group had to limit the game to one hour for the first part and another hour for the second part. Despite the shortened time period, the game was really engaging as the participants really learned a lot and opened up a new world of financial insights and possibilities that one would never thought possible from seemingly simple board game.

- In a short span of time, Ian was able to get out of the Rat Race, with Rustum just a shy away from also breaking through. Everyone believed that if given more time, all would probably get out themselves with the guidance and insights given by Jason.. Heck, I had the role of the Janitor but I was trading in the Stock Market! What a wonderful game!

- We had to cut it short but everyone really had a good time playing the game. It was then agreed that another session would be played after the next EB so players could really concentrate and learn more about properly handling their finances.

b) FREE Personal Finance Books from Alvin Tabanag

As mentioned during a previous email, Alvin Tabanag has been generous enough to give us 10 copies of his book: Kaya Mo Pinoy! 12 Steps to Build Wealth on Any Income.

My apologies to the group as I mentioned that the books were delivered to my office while I was on a client meeting and I was not able to bring them to the EB. Anyway, I will distribute the books during the next EB on June 6 and the following early birds will each receive a copy of the book:

1) Jason Estimado
2) Glenn Josef Jumilla
3) Ian Ocampo
4) Rustum Maranan
5) Jay Menes
6) Alrey Galang
7) Ador Cortezano
8) Anna Villanueva
9) Dr. Cristina Zapata-Aquino
10) Jack Wong

c) Lunch and Open Networking:

Lunch soon followed, and in between chews and swallows from Jack's incredible meals from Han Wok, Entreplinkers had the chance to chat with one another and learn something about their fellow entreplinkers.

d) ENTREPLINK MEETING Proper:

Finally, lunch was concluded and both sets of tables were joined together and the meeting ensued. The following were the items discussed.

- Each one introduced his name and gave a little background about his business and the products or services that they were offering. This session alone elicited not-so-few laughters, puns and sheer joy from everyone present as we really did enjoyed each other's company as well as finally getting to meet new faces and personalities. I will give a short summary at the end regarding the participants who attended.

- A discussion about MLM was put forward, wherein Entreplink was envisioned to come up with its own MLM Business with a Heart. Several agreed that the MLM industry is somewhat abused by some quarters and taking out the true essence of what Multilevel Marketing is all about. In a general sense, the three main characteristics of what MLM should be are:

a) There should be quality products which should be sold cheaper than what they can get from normal channels
b) Income should be generated from product sales and not from recruitment
c) The people behind should be good people - willing to help other entrepreneurs and not for selfish gain.

- The direction for Entreplink Philippines was discussed. A timeframe for the SEC papers should be established, however Jack and Rustum would take the initiative in requesting for copies of the papers from SEC so we can get the documentations finalized. Giving due respect to our existing board and founding members, a new set of officers will not yet be identified, instead we should start with an evolving Core Group to develop Entreplink's organizational behaviour and characteristics.

(Entreplink Philippines members getting down to business)

- A call to cleanup Entreplink Philippines was again put forward. The guidelines for posting products and services should be strictly followed - which is simply a matter of including your contact details: name, business, business address, contact info. Show that you are a real person by including this information, otherwise you will just be branded as scammers or spammers and will eventually be taken out of the list. The vision for Entreplink Philippines is that the group and community would be composed of people who are good and genuinely want to help other entrepreneurs even while they are earning money at the side.

- Efforts to bring out the lurkers to be more active in the discussions and better yet, to participate in the meetings and gatherings. THe goal is to get these people involved in the true purpose of Entreplink Philippines - which is the sharing of knowledge with other Entrepreneurs using both theoretical learnings and lessons learned from the school of hard knowck. The following are the plans to achieve this:

a) Post pictures and videos in blogs so other people/members can see them
b) Conduct Learning Seminars: ex: Entreplink-sponsore d Cashflow; Handling Employees; Setting Budgets; Taxation; Online Marketing; etc - we have a wealth of knowledge and resources that we can share to everyone.
c) Formulate regular activities and events for Entreplink Philippines
d) Formalize programs/activities during gatherings

- Establishment of the Official Office for Entreplink at Wolrdnet Business Center. The office can be a meeting ground between members, and would eventually be a take-off place for our revitalized organization.

- New Memberships:

a) New members should comply with the established set of criteria. If these requirements are not complied with, membership would be declined. We currently have over a hundred applicants that are still pending, who could not even fill up a request for their profile.
b) Referrals from core / active members would be taken priority

- Meetings / EB's (which we will be changing the name to ENJOYABLE GET-TOGETHER)

a) Regular meetings would be every other week, preferably Saturdays from 10to12am at Han Wok Blue Wave or any other suggested locations from members
b) If necessary, meetings on weekdays would be from 5:30 to 7pm at the Worldnet Business Center office in Makati

- NEXT ENJOYABLE GET-TOGETHER:

a) JUNE 6, Saturday 10am-12nn at Han Wok Blue Wave

Agenda /Activities:

- Open Networking

- Elevator Sales Pitch: introduce yourself, your business and the potential clients you are looking for. Do it in one minute. It is like making a sales pitch to someone you meet in the elevator before that someone steps off to his floor.

- Product Presentation: a featured presentation from our Entreplinkers wherein they make a short showcase (5 minutes) of their products or services. For June 6, the presenters would be the following:
a) Glenn Josef Jumilla (at only 19 years of age, he is the youngest Entrepreneur present)
b) Patrick Joseph Plata
c) Anna Villanueva

b) Round Two of Entreplink Philippines Cashflow 101 game - 1pm to 4pm
- we'll try to bring in more boards so more people can play.
